Start your Christmas at The Trothy on Christmas Eve

May Thrill on 13th October
All the fun of the Fayre
There was something for everyone at Mitchel Troy Village Fayre – with traditional games,
a dog show, with a delightful collection of dogs of all shapes and sizes, with best in Show won by Max, a golden retriever belonging to Helen Elkins,
a tombola run by Mitchel Troy Pre-School
and a raffle with some brilliant prizes donated by our sponsors – Handyman House, Green & Jenks, Millbrook Garden Centre, Paws, Premier Inn, Ancre Hill and Cllr. Richard John. Millbrook Garden Centre also sponsored the children’s Sow & Grow competition. A separately raffled hamper, with charcuterie donated by Trealy Farm, organic veg donated by Square Farm and eggs donated by Helen Atton from Wonastow Mill, was very popular.
Other stalls included some wonderful face-painting, as shown on the front page of the Monmouthshire Beacon, a colourful and interesting stand from local charity, Hands Around the World, and a raffle of the harvest hamper from Jake Elliott that grew his £1 to well over £11 for his school.
Jake also won the children’s ladder game and his puppy Sky came second in the waggiest tail.
Meanwhile, inside the Hall the Village Produce Association stall advertised their Summer Show (in the Hall on Saturday August 19th), the cake stall with cakes donated by members of the Committee and others did a roaring trade
and cups of tea and cream teas proved very popular. As the afternoon drew on, the bar opened and the appetising smells from the BBQ reminded everyone to get a drink and relax with sausages & burgers.

What a won
derful evening we had on Sunday and raised a magnificent £400 to send to the RNLI. A fascinating quiz expertly compered by Peter stretched the brain cells, the fish pies and the alternative veggie lasagna were yummy and the lemon tarts and special brownies absolutely delicious, and then we had a great singalong of sea shanties with Bygonz
