RNLIlogo.jpgWhat a won2016-10-16-001-014derful evening we had on Sunday  and raised a magnificent £400 to send to the RNLI.  A fascinating quiz expertly compered by Peter stretched the brain cells, the fish pies and the alternative veggie lasagna were yummy and the lemon tarts and special brownies absolutely delicious, and then we had a great singalong of sea shanties with Bygonz

Lydart Farm Walk on 11 September 2016

Local walk to explore historic Lydart Farm and enjoy Diana’s scones

A beautiful day for a walk and thoroughly enjoyed by those who walked up and those who met them at Lydart Farm.  Thank you so much to Diana and David Price for their hospitality.

A soggy but enjoyable Village Fayre

Village Fayre 2

Village Fayre 2Well that was a soggy day, wasn’t it!  But the horrible weather could not dampen the enthusiasm of our wonderful volunteers as they set up the tents, stalls and games nor diminish the wonderful aroma of the Hot Dogs sizzling on the BBQ.  Those who braved the elements seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves, joining in the dog show and the fun and games.  And the VPA Show was another resounding success with beautiful displays of flowers and produce, cakes and preserves and, of course, the children’s entries.

Map from intro leaflet

We explored our maps of the footpaths, bridleways and byways in Mitchel Troy Community Council area and of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and  leafed through our leaflets and discovered the wealth of info available online.

IMG_0569There will be a guided walk up to Lydart Farm’s historic building on Saturday September 10th.  The walk will start at 2pm at St Michaels, with a view to arriving at Lydart Farm at about 3pm.  Anyone who does not want to do the walk could meet us at the Farm at 3pm to enjoy one of Diana’s wonderful teas.  Walkers would then aim to get back to St Michaels at about 4:30pm.

Village Lunch on June 12th

Untitled

Come and join us at our

Mitchel Troy Village Lunch

We are using the Queen’s Official Birthday as an excuse to get together

Rather than going up to The Mall in London for the Patron’s Lunch (at £150 a go!) or organising a Big Lunch street party, we thought we would have a Village Lunch.  It’s on Sunday 12 June starting at 12:30.

The idea is that you bring food to share & your own drinks and we’ll supply the crockery, cutlery and glasses.

It really was a very enjoyable event with a wonderful array of food that was shared by all – perhaps we could encourage some of you to organise another one later in the year????!!!

Coffi Troddi Plant Swap on Saturday May 21st

Coffi Troddi Plant Sale 3

Advance Notice

The Village Lunch, using the Queen’s Official 90th birthday as an excuse for a get together, will be held on Sunday June 12th at 12:30.  We suggest bringing food to share and your own drink.  We’re hoping for some music as well.

Annual General Meeting

MTVH AGM notice

The Village Hall AGM is on Wednesday 4th May (yes, the day before the Assembly Election) at 8pm.  Refreshments will be provided and we look forward to seeing everyone who has enjoyed the Hall and wants to know how it is progressing.  We have had a busy year and are progressing well with our next project – a defibrillator for the Village.

We really want to hear your views on how the Hall is used and also want to ask for as much help of all kinds as you can offer.  The Hall is volunteer run for the benefit of Mitchel Troy and surrounding area and more hands would make much lighter work.

Following our AGM, we welcome Kevin Hall, who has been appointed as our fifth Trustee and David Llewellyn, who has joined us on the Committee.  After a round up of the projects and events of the past year, progress on the defibrillator project was brought up to date.  An application has been made to the British Heart Foundation for funding and this has been approved by the Welsh Ambulance Service, so we are now just waiting to hear from the BHF.
